Wang Fu

Biography & Historical Record

Wang Fu (王副, Vương Phó) was an imperial nobleman and hereditary peer of the Western Jin Dynasty. He was the son of Grand Tutor Wang Xiang (王祥, Vương Tường — Duke of Suiping).

Because Wang Xiang’s eldest sons Wang Lie (王烈) and Wang Fen (王芬) predeceased their venerable father, the imperial court decreed that the hereditary noble title should pass down through the surviving direct lineage. Wang Fu was formally enfeoffed as the Baron of Suiping (睢陵伯) with revenue from an extensive agricultural domain, maintaining the official ancestral sacrifices for his father’s state merits. Respected for his dignified poise and filial modesty, Wang Fu served in various court ceremonies in Luoyang, ensuring that the honor of the Langya Wang house continued to shine brightly.

Role in Romance & Historical Chronicles

“Wang Xiang’s titles were apportioned among his descendants; his son Wang Fu succeeded to the fief of Suiping, upholding the illustrious ancestral rites.”
— Book of Jin (Jin Shu)
