Biography & Historical Record

Luo Meng (罗蒙, La Mông) was an esteemed civil official, administrator, and patriarch of the Shu Han Dynasty. Originating from the prominent Luo clan of Xiangyang, he relocated to the Shu region following the flight of Jingzhou scholars during the turmoil of the late Han. Appreciated for his integrity, administrative firmness, and profound Confucian education, Luo Meng entered the civil service of Shu Han under Prime Minister Zhuge Liang.

Luo Meng rose to the influential post of Grand Administrator of Guanghan (广汉太守), one of the vital granaries and military staging commanderies of northern Sichuan. His upright governance won wide acclaim from both local tribes and the Han court. He was the father of the legendary general Luo Xian (罗宪, La Hiến — the heroic defender of Yong’an who repelled Lu Kang’s massive Wu army for six months) and grandfather of Luo Xi (罗袭).

Role in Romance & Historical Chronicles

“Luo Meng served Shu Han with honesty and devotion as Administrator of Guanghan; his legacy flourished through his son Luo Xian, who became the bulwark of the Yangtze gorges.”
— Spring and Autumn Annals of the Sixteen Kingdoms (Huayang Guozhi)

In historical and regional chronicles of Sichuan, Luo Meng is remembered as the moral progenitor of one of Shu Han’s finest military lineages. His emphasis on loyalty, classical discipline, and civic rectitude provided the foundation for Luo Xian’s immortal stand at Baidicheng during the tragic fall of Shu in 263 AD.
