Cao Fan

Cao Fan was an imperial prince of the Cao Wei dynasty; son of Prince Xiao of Pengcheng Cao Ju (曹据) and grandson of Cao Cao. Raised in the cultured royal palaces of Ye and Luoyang, Cao Fan was educated in classical poetry, archery, and state administration.
In 235 AD, Cao Fan was enfeoffed as the Duke of Pingyang (平阳公) during the reign of Emperor Ming of Wei (Cao Rui). He managed public granaries and promoted classical schooling across his principality. When his father Cao Ju was considered by the grand ministers as a potential successor to the Wei throne in 254 AD, Cao Fan displayed exemplary filial prudence, avoiding partisan intrigue and successfully safeguarding his household through the dangerous political purges of the late Three Kingdoms era.
