Biography & Historical Record
Tian Peng (田彭, Điền Bành; c. 200s–?) was a military nobleman of Cao Wei and the eldest biological son and hereditary successor of Tian Yu (田豫), the legendary commander who defended the northern frontiers against Wuhuan, Xianbei, and Sun Wu incursions.
Raised amidst the border garrisons of Youbeiping and Bing Province, Tian Peng acquired a deep knowledge of northern logistics and cavalry defense. Following Tian Yu’s death at an advanced age in 252 AD, Tian Peng inherited his father’s peerage as Marquis of Changle Ting (长乐亭侯). Following Tian Peng’s death, the peerage was inherited by his son Tian Qi (田祈).
