Biography & Historical Record
Sun Mang (孙𦯏, 孫𦯏, Tôn Mãng; c. 263–265 AD), courtesy name Zhongxiang (仲象, Trọng Tượng), was an imperial prince of the Eastern Wu dynasty during the late Three Kingdoms era. He was the second son of Emperor Jing of Wu (Sun Xiu) and Empress Zhu (朱皇后).
Like his siblings, Sun Mang’s name was specially composed from rare archaic glyphs by Sun Xiu to avoid homophonic conflicts. In 264 AD, he was enfeoffed as the Prince of Runan (汝南王). Following Sun Xiu’s death and Sun Hao’s ascent to the throne, political purges quickly engulfed the court. Suspecting potential loyalty among royalists toward Sun Xiu’s offspring, Sun Hao exiled Sun Mang and his elder brother Sun Wan to Boyang, and in the autumn of 265 AD secretly executed both young princes.
