Biography & Historical Record
Huode Xingjun (火德星君, Hỏa Đức Tinh Quân), the Star Lord of Fire Virtue, is a folk-Daoist fire deity whom Luo Guanzhong drops into Chapter 11 as a beautiful woman on the road from Luoyang. She is not a Han official and not in Chen Shou. The novel uses her to introduce Mi Zhu (糜竺, My Trúc): because he treats a lone woman with courtesy, she warns him that Heaven has already sentenced his house to burn. The kitchen fire that night is both miracle and character test. Mi Zhu then gives the remnant away, and Tao Qian (陶谦, Đào Khiêm) can hire a rich man who has already learned to travel light.
The same tale, in fuller form, is in Gan Bao’s Soushenji. Luo Guanzhong compresses it as the opening of the Beihai / Puyang chapter so that Mi Zhu’s later embassy to Kong Rong (孔融, Khổng Dung) arrives with a moral résumé.
Role in Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Chapter 11 (Imperial Uncle Liu Rescues Kong Rong at Beihai; Lü Bu Breaks Cao Cao at Puyang): Coming back from Luoyang, Mi Zhu met a beautiful woman who asked to ride. He walked and gave her the carriage; he sat straight and did not glance aside. She took her leave: “I am the Southern Fire Virtue Star Lord. The Lord on High ordered me to burn your home. You treated me with ritual, so I tell you plainly — go home, carry the goods out; I come tonight.” She vanished. That night the kitchen caught. Mi Zhu scattered what was left among the poor. Tao Qian made him Attendant Officer. He offers to ride to Beihai for Kong Rong; Chen Deng (陈登, Trần Đăng) takes the Qingzhou letter. The rest of the chapter — Guan Hai’s siege, Liu Bei’s relief, Lü Bu’s seizure of Yanzhou — is the war her omen sits in front of. She never reappears.

Key Relationships
Family
- No kinship. Star lords in this liturgical layer are offices of Heaven, not a Han clan.
Friends
- Mi Zhu (糜竺, My Trúc): The only human she addresses. His courtesy is why she mitigates a sentence she cannot cancel.
Enemies
- No mortal enemy. The “enemy” in the scene is the already-written fire.
Other
- Tao Qian (陶谦, Đào Khiêm): Hires Mi Zhu after the fire.
- Kong Rong (孔融, Khổng Dung) and Chen Deng (陈登, Trần Đăng): Recipients of the two rescue letters.
- Liu Bei (刘备, Lưu Bị): Lifts Beihai after Mi Zhu’s embassy.
- Cao Cao (曹操, Tào Tháo) and Lu Bu (吕布, Lã Bố): The siege and the Yanzhou stab that occupy the rest of Chapter 11.
In Novel
Chapter 11
- Huode Xingjun (火德星君, Hỏa Đức Tinh Quân): On the Luoyang road Mi Zhu (糜竺, My Trúc) gives his carriage to a beautiful woman and will not look at her. She reveals herself as the Southern Fire Virtue Star Lord, sent to burn his house, and because he treated her with ritual she tells him to move the goods. That night the kitchen fire consumes the buildings. Mi Zhu scatters what is left; Tao Qian (陶谦, Đào Khiêm) makes him Attendant Officer and he rides to Kong Rong (孔融, Khổng Dung) in the same chapter.
