Biography & Historical Record
He Sui (何遂, Hà Toái) was a venerable magistrate, clan patriarch, and civil official of the late Eastern Han dynasty and Eastern Wu. Originating from Danyang Commandery in Yang Province, he was the father of He Zhi (何植), who rose to the prestigious rank of Supreme Commander and Guanglu Daifu in Eastern Wu, and grandfather of Empress Dowager He (何太后), mother of the last Wu emperor Sun Hao.
Living during the tumultuous decline of the Han dynasty and the rise of the Sun family in Jiangdong, He Sui maintained civil stability in Danyang through disciplined administration, fair adjudication, and agrarian promotion. His dedication to Confucian ethical education established the foundational standing that enabled his descendants to attain imperial marital ties with the ruling House of Sun.
