Biography & Historical Record
Consort He (何姬, Hà Cơ; c. 220s–?) was a noble consort of Eastern Wu hailing from Jurong in Danyang Commandery. She was selected into the palace and presented to Crown Prince Sun He (孙和), becoming his cherished consort and giving birth to his eldest son, Sun Hao (孙皓), in 242 AD.
During the brutal Succession Struggle between Sun He and Sun Ba, Sun He was deposed and forced to commit suicide in 253 AD. Consort He endured profound hardship, fiercely raising Sun Hao and protecting her children through the political purges of Sun Chen. When Sun Hao was proclaimed Emperor in 264 AD, he elevated Consort He with the supreme title of Empress Dowager Zhaoxian (昭献皇太后), honoring her maternal devotion.
