Jia Chong urged him to protect Sima Zhao at all costs; Cheng Ji lunged forward and speared Emperor Cao Mao to death. Facing immense public outrage, Sima Zhao used Cheng Ji as a scapegoat, ordering him and his family executed across three generations.
