Biography & Historical Record
Zhu Ji (朱纪, 朱紀, Chu Kỷ; c. 190s–240s AD) was an officer and noble member of the prominent Zhu clan of Guzhang in Danyang Commandery, serving the state of Eastern Wu. He was the son of Zhu Zhi (朱治), the celebrated general who served Sun Jian, Sun Ce, and Sun Quan, rising to become General Who Conquers the East and Marquis of Guzhang.
Because Zhu Zhi’s elder son Zhu Ran (朱然) was originally his sister’s son adopted to carry on the family lineage, Zhu Ji and his brothers Zhu Cai grew up alongside Zhu Ran as key military officers of the second generation. Zhu Ji served as an imperial commandant, leading ancestral troops and participating in frontier garrison duties that protected the Yangtze river defense lines.
