Zhou Cheng (周承, Chu Thừa) was the younger son of Zhou Tai (周泰, Chu Thái), styled Youping (幼平, Ấu Bình), the Wu commander famous for sustaining dozens of wounds shielding Sun Quan (孙权, Tôn Quyền) at Hefei and on early campaigns. Zhou Tai’s elder son Zhou Shao (周邵, Chu Thiệu) first inherited the Marquisate of Lingyang (陵阳侯) and commanded the family veterans; when Zhou Shao died in 230 AD, Zhou Cheng succeeded to the title and took charge of the Zhou household garrison troops guarding Wu heartlands.
