Yang Ling (杨龄, Dương Lăng) was the lead military officer under Administrator Han Xuan (韩玄, Hàn Huyền) of Changsha. When Liu Bei dispatched Guan Yu to seize Changsha in 208 AD, Yang Ling boldly volunteered to lead a detachment of a thousand troops outside the city walls to engage Guan Yu. Charging directly at Guan Yu with spear in hand, Yang Ling was cut down from his horse in a single bout by Guan Yu’s Green Dragon Crescent Blade.
