Biography & Historical Record
Xiahou Chi (夏侯炽, 夏侯熾, Hạ Hầu Si; c. 130s–?) was a prominent clan elder and patriarch of the military Xiahou clan of Qiao in Pei State (modern Bozhou, Anhui Province). Direct descendant of Marquis Xiahou Ying, who served Han founder Liu Bang, Xiahou Chi held prestigious hereditary gentry rank in late Eastern Han.
He was the biological father of two of the supreme military pillars of the Cao Wei dynasty: Grand General Xiahou Dun (夏侯惇) and General of Chariots and Cavalry Xiahou Yuan (夏侯渊). Bound by deep kinship with Cao Cao’s father Cao Song, the Xiahou and Cao houses formed the foundational military backbone that pacified northern China.
