Shi Ci

Shi Ci (士赐, Sĩ Tứ) was an Eastern Han dynasty statesman and patriarch of the prominent Shi clan of Jiaozhi (northern Vietnam and southern China). He served as Prefect of Rinan Commandery (日南太守), one of the southernmost frontier outposts of the Han empire.
Under Shi Ci’s guidance, the Shi family established a powerful cultural, commercial, and political base in Jiaozhou. He was the father of the legendary governor Shi Xie (士燮), who ruled Jiaozhi peacefully for four decades, as well as Shi Wu (士䵋) and Shi Yi. Shi Ci’s leadership laid the groundwork for the Shi clan’s autonomous golden age during the Three Kingdoms period.
