Biography & Historical Record

Princess Dongxiang (东乡公主, 東鄉公主, Đông Hương công chúa; c. 200s–?) was an imperial princess of the state of Cao Wei during the Three Kingdoms era. She was the daughter of Emperor Wen of Wei, Cao Pi (曹丕), and the renowned beauty Empress Wenzhao (Zhenji), making her the full elder sister of Emperor Ming, Cao Rui (曹叡).

Born in the cultural center of Ye during the height of the Jian’an literary flourishing, Princess Dongxiang was renowned for her aristocratic elegance, virtuous conduct, and poetic sensibilities inherited from her mother. Following Cao Pi’s establishment of the Wei dynasty in 220 AD, she was formally enfeoffed as Princess of Dongxiang.

Despite the tragic demise of her mother in 221 AD, Princess Dongxiang remained deeply cherished by her brother Cao Rui during his imperial reign, enjoying high imperial reverence and estates in the Wei capital of Luoyang.
