Biography & Historical Record

Pang Zixia (庞子夏, 龐子夏, Bàng Tử Hạ; c. 140s–?) was a prominent gentry patriarch of Biaoshi in Jiuquan Commandery (modern Gansu Province). He was the husband of the revered Liang Province heroine Zhao E (赵娥), who famously avenged her father’s murder in broad daylight, and the biological father of loyalist minister Pang Yu (庞淯).

Pang Zixia supported Zhao E through the harrowing decade-long vendetta against her family’s murderer Li Shou, providing familial sanctuary and raising Pang Yu to embody unbending loyalty and chivalric honor. Pang Yu later became celebrated across northern China for shielding Zhang Meng with his own body and serving as Administrator of Xihe in Cao Wei.
