Biography & Historical Record

Pang Zeng (庞曾, Bàng Tằng) was a nobleman and official of Cao Wei during the Three Kingdoms era. Originating from Biaoshi in Jiuquan Commandery, he belonged to one of the most celebrated and heroic lineages of the Liangzhou frontier. He was the son and successor of Pang Yu (庞淯), the fiercely loyalist commander who defied rebel warlords to protect his magistrates and later served as a respected counselor to Cao Cao and Cao Pi.

Pang Zeng was also the direct grandson of the legendary heroine Pang E (Zhao E), whose righteous blood-feud vengeance in Liangzhou was praised by scholars across the empire. Following the death of Pang Yu during the reign of Cao Wei, Pang Zeng inherited his father’s noble rank of Marquis of Guannei (关内侯), maintaining the martial prestige and incorruptible reputation of the Pang clan along the northwestern borders.
