Li Xu (李绪, Lý Tự) was a military officer of Cao Wei during the Three Kingdoms period. He was the son of Li Ji (李基, Lý Cơ) and a direct descendant of the renowned southern Wei commander Li Tong (李通, Lý Thông) — one of Cao Cao’s most loyal generals who distinguished himself in suppressing Yellow Turban remnants, pacifying Runan, and holding the vital Ruying corridor against Liu Biao’s Jing forces. Li Tong’s decisive charge through flaming barricades at Jiangling to rescue Cao Ren during the Chibi aftermath established the Runan Li clan as hereditary military nobility of the eastern Wei heartland.

Inheriting his family’s warrior discipline, Li Xu entered military service during the mid-Wei period, serving faithfully in garrison duties along the Huai River and Runan regions. As the continuation of Li Tong’s lineage, he maintained the family’s ancestral sacrificial obligations and preserved their military estates through the Sima regency and the transition to Western Jin.
