Biography & Historical Record
Lady Mao (毛氏, Mao thị; c. 190s–c. 250s AD) was a noble matriarch of the state of Shu Han and the devoted wife of Jiang Wan (蒋琬), who succeeded Zhuge Liang as Regent, Grand General, and Chancellor of Shu Han.
Hailing from Jingzhou, Lady Mao managed the Jiang household with exemplary modesty, frugality, and Confucian virtue, supporting Jiang Wan throughout his tireless administrative burdens in Chengdu and his frontline military deployments at Hanzhong and Fu County. She raised their two distinguished sons: Jiang Bin, who defended the citadel of Fu against Zhong Hui, and Jiang Xian (蒋显), who served as a confidential court emissary and perished with unyielding loyalty during the fall of Shu in 263 AD.
