Biography & Historical Record
Lady Dong (董氏, Đổng thị; c. 170s–192 AD) was the daughter of late Eastern Han warlord and Grand Preceptor Dong Zhuo (董卓), and the wife of Dong Zhuo’s son-in-law and trusted supreme military commander Niu Fu (牛辅).
During Dong Zhuo’s despotic reign in Luoyang and Chang’an, Lady Dong and her household enjoyed imperial grandeur, residing in fortified splendor at the citadel of Mei (郿坞). Following Dong Zhuo’s assassination by Lu Bu and Wang Yun in May 192 AD, Niu Fu attempted to rally Liang Province forces but was assassinated by his own mutinous subordinates. In the imperial extermination decree targeting Dong Zhuo’s three generations, Lady Dong was executed in Chang’an alongside her clan.
