Biography & Historical Record
Jia Yi (贾彝, 賈彜, Giả Di; c. 240s–?), courtesy name Yanlun (彦伦, Ngạn Luân), was an imperial court official of the Western Jin dynasty. He was the son of Administrator of Jinchuan Jia Hun (贾浑) and the nephew of Grand Tutor Jia Chong (贾充), tracing his ancestry to Cao Wei Minister of Works Jia Kui.
Following his father’s martyrdom in 270 AD during the Tufa Shujineng tribal rebellion in Liang Province, Jia Yi and his younger brother Jia Zun were warmly patronized by Jia Chong and Emperor Wu of Jin. Endowed with refined eloquence and meticulous administrative skill, Jia Yi rose to the prestigious imperial position of Gentleman of the Yellow Gate (黄门侍郎), overseeing internal memorials and confidential communications in the Luoyang palace.
