Empress Jing’ai (敬哀皇后, Kính Ai Hoàng Hậu) was the eldest daughter of General Zhang Fei (张飞, Trương Phi) and Lady Xiahou (夏侯氏, Hạ Hầu thị). In 221 AD she was chosen as crown princess for Liu Shan (刘禅, Lưu Thiện) and ascended as Empress of Shu Han in 223 AD upon Liu Shan’s enthronement. Known for modesty and benevolence, she presided over the imperial inner palace during the golden era of Zhuge Liang (诸葛亮, Gia Cát Lượng)‘s administration until her death in 237 AD at Nanling Mausoleum, Chengdu.
