Deng Tong (邓铜, Đặng Đồng) is a fictional Shu Han officer in Luo Guanzhong’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms, attested only in the novel’s character rosters and Kongming’s Archives — not as an independently verified historical general in Sanguozhi. Kongming’s Archives marks him as fictional and records his death in 228 AD, the year after Zhuge Liang (诸葛亮, Gia Cát Lượng) occupied Hanzhong (汉中, Hán Trung) in 227, placing him in the early Northern Expedition period when Shu renewed its offensive against Wei from the Qishan front.

His sole literary appearance is a name in Chapter 97‘s military roster during Zhuge Liang’s renewed northern campaigns — the same chapter arc in which Zhao Yun (赵云, Triệu Vân) slays five Wei generals in rapid succession and Shu presses forward after the Chancellor’s second memorial to the throne. Deng Tong is not given dialogue or individual battlefield scenes; he belongs to the long list of Shu officers the novel summons to show the scale of mobilization as Kongming turns from southern pacification toward the Qishan offensives. His recorded death one year after Hanzhong’s occupation suggests he was counted among officers who served in that transitional garrison period but did not survive into later expeditions.
